WELCOME BACK TO MS. KINGSBURY! My surgery went well, and I am glad to see you all!

Objectives:
After this class, students will be able to:
1. reflect on their experiences over the past week.
2. define vocabulary words related to public speaking.
3. speak about their beliefs with conviction.

Agenda:
1. Warm-up: Students will complete the following writing prompt in their notebook:
Complete the following statement: During the past week, I... (write 1 page). Ms. Kingsbury will solicit students for their answers to find out what they have been up to while I was out.

2. Today's Vocabulary:
a. Belief - something that you know in your heart is always right and true
b. Conviction - believing in something so strongly that you would be willing to die to defend it
c. Persuasion - the ability to convince another person that your beliefs are right and true

3. Today's writing and speech task: Write a list of your 5 strongest beliefs and why you believe in these things. Be prepared to share your thoughts with the class. 50 points
